Hearing Healthcare at Wesson Hearing Aid Center

At our hearing center, we help patients understand their hearing health by providing them with educational resources and on-going support. From the latest hearing technology to help managing hearing loss, tinnitus, or another hearing disorder, our experts can help you.

Hearing Evaluations in Modesto

A hearing evaluation is the first step in determining your hearing ability. If you have hearing loss, an evaluation will determine the severity, type, and specifics. We will perform a series of tests to determine how well you can hear certain sounds as well as a speech audiometry test to discover how your hearing loss affects your speech comprehension. At Wesson Hearing Aid Center, we will work with you to help you understand your hearing loss and how to best manage it.

Industrial Hearing Screening

Hearing screenings are different from hearing tests and evaluations as they are simply pass or fail. A hearing screening is a great first step to determine if you have a hearing loss while a hearing test will assess the severity and how it affects your speech comprehension. At our hearing clinic, we offer industrial hearing screenings that adhere to OSHA standards for factory workers.

Cognivue: Cognitive Screening

Hearing ability is the number one modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline. People with untreated hearing loss experience a 30%-40% greater decline in cognitive abilities and an increased risk of developing dementia. Because your hearing ability is so deeply connected to your brain health, we offer Cognivue screening.

Cognivue screening is a five-minute, self-administered test that evaluates three cognitive functions: memory, visuospatial, and executive function as well as reaction time and speed processing. This screening is a major step toward identifying cognitive decline caused by depression, anxiety, and hearing loss. To learn more about Cognivue, please contact us.

Hearing Aid Services

After we have evaluated your hearing, we can use the results of your audiogram to help you find the right hearing aid for your unique needs. Our goal is to help you find a device that allows you to hear better in your environments and provides you with amplification and clarity to discern speech. Our hearing specialists are experts in hearing aids and can help you find the right device for your individual needs.

We work with many different manufacturers to offer a wide range of hearing aids for sale. After we’ve evaluated your hearing, we can recommend hearing aids that will be most helpful for your individual hearing loss and needs. We will expertly fit the hearing aids to your unique ear shape and program them to your hearing prescription.

At Wesson Hearing Aid Center, we offer live speech mapping, an advanced method of hearing aid fitting and verification. This verification process allows our hearing specialists to adjust your hearing aids to the right setting for your individual needs.

If something isn’t working right with your hearing aids, bring them in and we’ll make any necessary adjustments. We can do some repairs in-office or we can send your hearing aids to the manufacturer for more complex repairs if necessary.

We also provide professional hearing aid cleanings at all of our office locations. We recommend bringing your hearing aids in every six months for a deep cleaning, this will ensure your devices are working properly and will last you for longer.

If you are routinely exposed to loud noise, sounds that exceed 85 decibels, it’s crucial to wear hearing protection to keep your ears safe. Loud noise exposure is one of the most common causes of hearing loss in adults of all ages. Whether you work in a noisy environment, you are a musician, or you enjoy hobbies where noise is loud, you should wear custom hearing protection. We offer:

  • Musician earplugs
  • Electronic earplugs
  • In-ear monitors

Custom fit earplugs are great for preventing hearing loss and tinnitus. If you are interested in keeping your ears safe, contact us for an appointment.

Tinnitus, most commonly known as “ringing in the ears,” is a condition that affects millions of Americans. Tinnitus is when you hear a ringing, buzzing, humming, whooshing, or whistling noise in your ears when no external sounds are present. Tinnitus can be temporary or permanent and can last a couple seconds to days at a time. To determine the cause, we will perform a tinnitus test. Once we’ve evaluated your hearing, we can recommend a management option.

At Wesson Hearing Aid Center, we offer tinnitus treatments that can help stop ringing in the ears. We carry hearing aids that have a special tinnitus masking feature, to help distract your brain from the symptoms of tinnitus.
